Fit comes before specifications
A mouse can have an excellent sensor and still feel wrong if the shell is too wide, too tall, too flat or too long for your hand. Comfort affects how consistently you aim, how much tension you carry in your fingers and wrist, and whether you can use the mouse for hours without constantly adjusting your grip.
Symmetrical vs. ergonomic mice
The shell is broadly even from side to side. It often works well for claw, relaxed-claw and fingertip users who want freedom to reposition their hand.
The shell is sculpted for the right hand, usually with a taller left side and stronger palm support. It can feel more natural for palm or relaxed-claw users.

1000 Hz vs. 4000 Hz vs. 8000 Hz polling
Polling rate describes how often the mouse reports its position to the computer. At 1000 Hz, the interval is approximately one millisecond. Higher rates can reduce the interval further and may make motion look smoother on a high-refresh display, but the practical difference is smaller than the marketing numbers suggest.
- 1000 Hz: the best default for most people.
- 4000 Hz: a reasonable high-refresh option if your PC and game handle it well.
- 8000 Hz: optional for enthusiasts; it can increase CPU use and reduce wireless battery life.
Modern wireless vs. wired
A good dedicated 2.4 GHz gaming connection can provide responsive, stable performance without cable drag. Wired mice remain useful when price, simplicity or never charging matters most.
Bluetooth is convenient for general use, but it is usually not the preferred competitive connection when a dedicated gaming receiver is available. Also check where the receiver sits: placing it closer to the mouse can improve reliability in crowded wireless environments.
